EXHIBITION AND SEMINAR IN GJU ON CULTURAL CONTINUITY FROM RIGVEDA TO ROBOTICS (SKY VIEWS OF ASTRONOMICAL REFERENCES & SUPPORTING SCIENTIFIC EVIDENCES)

(A brief report)

This unique Exhibition was put up by I-SERVE Delhi Chapter on 3-4 February, 2016 in Guru Jambeshwar University of Science and Technology, Hisar, Haryana in order to showcase the outcomes of multi-disciplinary scientific research carried out for more than 12 years for the benefit of students and teachers of modern sciences. The Exhibition was unveiled by Prof. Kaptan Singh Solanki, Honrable Governor of Haryana.

For the Seminar, invited lecture on the subject was delivered by Smt. Saroj Bala, Director of I-SERVE Delhi Chapter. Dr Ankit Agarwal, advisor of I-SERVE Delhi Chapter delivered a talk on ‘Story of Saraswati through Scientific Evidences’. Special address was delivered by Dr Tankeshwar Kumar Ji, Hon’ble Vice chancellor of GJU, who was the moving force behind this event. Honorable Governor delivered the valedicory address. He whole heartedly appreciated the quality and output of research undertaken by Saroj Bala and the team of scientists from I-SERVE Delhi Chapter.

The theme of the Exhibition put up on 3-4 February, 2016 in the beautiful Arch-gallery of GJU auditorium complex and the theme of the talk delivered by Smt. Saroj Bala, Director of I-SERVE Delhi Chapter in the 2000 seater state-of-the art Auditorium of GJU are summarised as under –

·    The latest scientific research reports have proved that indigenous civilisation has been developing in India for last 10,000 years. Vedas contain references of the sky views which could be observed around 9000 - 7000 BP, Ramayana refers to the sky views seen sequentially around 7000 BP, whereas those of Mahabharata could be observed around 5000 BP. On display were the sky views, generated by using Planetarium software, starting with the one observed at the time of birth of Lord Ram in 5114 BC, matching exactly the description given in Valmiki Ramayan. All subsequent sky observations of important events in the life of Lord Ram reveal perfect chronological matching.

·    On display in the Exhibition, were the sky views generated by using Planetarium soft ware, which match the references in Mahabharata sequentially right from the date of departure of Pandavas for thirteen years of exile, after they lost everything in the game of Dice in 3153 BC, to the sequential events leading to Mahabharata war in 3139 BC and thereafter right up to the solar eclipse seen from Dwarka before it submerged 36 years after Mahabharata war in 3102 BC.

·    These astronomical dates of references in Rigveda, Ramayana and Mahabharata are corroborated by oceanographic, archaeological, geological, remote sensing, paleobotanical, ecological and anthropological evidences. Various exhibits displayed provided pictorial glimpse of such scientific evidences. The archaeological evidences displayed were in form of utensils, ornaments, weapons, plants and infrastructure etc. All these support the astronomical dates of references in these scriptures.

·    On display in the exhibition was the map showing more than 150 places visited by Shri Ram during his exile. One could look at the picture of Kutumsar caves in Dandak vana; the carbon dating of grains found from there considers these as 7000 years old!  Also on display was the map showing kingdoms and tribes which participated in Mahabharat war; these extended from Gandhar in Afghanistan to Trikut in Sri Lanka and from Lauhitya (Arunachal Pradesh) in the East to Dwarka in the West! Was it not Greater Bharatvarsha!

·    Some rare pictures of Ramsetu were on display with proof that it was at the walkable level around 7000 years back. Put on show was the pictorial display of the eventful journey of remote past revealing how and when Ganga became the most venerated holy river of India in place of Saraswati!

·    The geneology charts of the Suryavanshi rulers, containing names of 63 predecessors and 59 successors of Lord Ram were on display. These were corroborated by the latest DNA studies, particularly of Ramayan tribes, revealing genetic continuity of civilsed populations for more than 10000 years in India and common genetic heritage of Dravidians, North Indians and Tribes in which there has been no inflow during last 10000 years but there has been outflow, giving a final burial to Aryan Invasion Theory.

·   There are larger number of scientific discoveries and lesser number of inventions recorded in Vedic and post-Vedic literature. Some such discoveries were also showcased. References to various discoveries of Physics, Chemistry, Botany, Astronomy, Mathematics, Environmental Sciences etc. were described in greater detail during presentation by Saroj Bala.

Dr. Tankeshwar Kumar, Vice Chancellor of GJU impressed the audience with his deep knowledge on the subject combined with lead from the front attitude in taking a lead on the subject of Modern Sciences in ancient Vedic and Post-Vedic literature. He said that –

·   The intensive and extensive scientific research, which has gone behind this Exhibition and Seminar on ‘Cultural Continuity from Rigveda to Robotics’ has proved that Rigveda was composed more than 9000 years back and there has been cultural continuity since then.

·   Ancient scholars and rishi-munis of ancient India had such profound knowledge of astronomy and of methods of time reckoning that modern scientific tools are establishing their precision and reliability. We need to know all that in greater details for our own benefit.

·   Dr. Tankeshwar Kumar, Vice Chancellor of GJU appreciated the initiative taken by Mrs. Saroj Bala and her Institute I-SERVE. He requested that various science departments of GJU could take initiative in correlating and carrying forward ancient knowledge of modern sciences. He also endorsed the idea of having co-guides from faculty of sciences with Sanskrit scholars of Department of Religious Studies of GJU.

Prof. Kaptan Singh Solanki, Honrable Governor of Haryana lauded the efforts put in by Smt Saroj Bala and appreciated the achievements of Team I-SERVE. Some extracts from his speech are-

·   The evidences displayed through this exhibition and presented during the Seminar are so convincing and credible that it may not be possible to say any more that Ramayana and Mahabharata are mythology. It has been proved that these contain references to true events of the remote past; the true dates of these events can be determined by making use of modern scientific tools.

·   Full fledged efforts need to be made so as to reach the information revealed through this Exhibition and Seminar to largest number of people all over India; rather all over the world. He assured support from Haryana in this field.

During this Exhibition, one could watch the video recording of address by late Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, most admired ex-President of India, talking about such indigenous development of civilisation, relating the Ramayana references to 7000 BP and extolling the achievements of India in remote past! An extract is as under-

“Vedic and post-Vedic literature has a tremendous amount of scientific knowledge which will be extremely beneficial to humanity. For creating a faith in these documents, there is a need to establish the date of occurrence of Vedas and Upanishads which are contained in our mythology, so that they are transformed into historical events and not imaginary mythological events…….

If we look at the study on scientific dating of Ramayana, the important aspect about the Ramayana is that when Valmiki wrote the epic, he made it with many proofs. He packed so much information about the various planetary positions of those days, the geography of the areas mentioned in the epic, the seasonal events, and about the genealogy of various kings that it is virtually a no-brainer to establish the dates on which those events occurred.

Astronomical calculation, making use of planetarium software, have proved that events narrated in Valamiki Ramayana actually occurred around 7000 years back and they can be sequentially dated. Ramasetu is found submerged at the same location as is described in Valamiki Ramayana and the city of Dwarka has been explored by marine archeology wing of Govt of India….

As per the estimate made by the Inter-Governmental panel on Climate Change (NASA, Global Change Master Directory), the rise in the sea level during the last 7000 years has been about 2.8 meters which roughly corresponds to 9.3 feet. The remains of Rama Sethu are found submerged nearly at a depth of 9-10 feet. Thus, obviously this bridge was capable of being used as a land route 7000 years back. This is the only existing evidence on manmade bridge so many thousands of years back…

It is essential that our researchers launch a mission-oriented program in an integrated way by earth science, geological science, remote sensing and space scientists, oceanography and climate change teams and the people who are engaged in construction under the sea….

The spoken language period as per Prof. Tobias is around 10000 years old and the birth of Rama based on the 9th thithi of Chaitra month dates to 10th January in 5114 BC, that is 7117 years back. We need to establish the relationship between the birth of spoken language and the evolution of Valmiki Ramayana.…. I am happy that through the use of modern technology, the perception of Indian Archaeology has changed and has facilitated the researchers to prove an indigenous origin of civilization in the Indian Sub continent. This is an important factor which should work as an integrator of the entire nation since all of us have come into this land from the same ancestors and roots.”

Almost all the visitors, teachers and students showed deep interest and made extremely positive and encouraging comments about the Exhibition as well as the Seminar. A Quiz Program on the subject was conducted on 4th February, in which more than 250 students had participated. These students showed keen interest, displayed good knpwledge of the subject and consequently won many prizes during this Quiz Program.

Formal and informal interaction with the faculty members of GJU revealed that some of them were really interested in unearthing and connecting the scientific knowledge of ancient India with modern sciences in certain selected areas with the following objectives –
1. Make our rightful claim over the scientific theories and discoveries made by us e.g. in subjects of astronomy, metallurgy and medicine. Write the true history of sciences by keeping future needs in mind.

2. Take up individual research in selected science subjects; starting from ancient knowledge, its development in modern times and identifying the scope for carrying the research to logical conclusion by working on an identified component in the best interest of mankind e.g. one or two out of 121 surgical instruments listed in Charak Samhita or a weapon for making crowds unconscious (without killing), described in Mahabharata, may still have the potential of being developed.

Some of the research subjects in which faculty members of GJU appeared to be prima facie interested are-

·        Deptt. of Mathematics – Ancient Indian knowledge of Arithmetic, Algebra and Geometry; comparison of their dating with dates of modern knowledge and identifying and developing some ancient concepts for modern use.

·        Research based on excavations of Sarasvati sites in Haryana e.g. crops of those times and their present day potential, various human and plant diseases of ancient times and metallurgy.
·      Department of Biomedical Engineering– Surgical instruments (121 appx.) described in Sushruta Samhita, their correlation with modern surgical instruments, identification and development of those which are still not being made/used.

·        Faculty of Medical Sciences; Applied Psychology – Holistic Healing (including mind and body) in past, its need in modern times and developing a model for future based on ancient knowledge.
·        Faculty of Medical Sciences; Physiotherapy – Tracing the history of Yoga with credible dating, developing a model for future by integrating some inputs from modern physiotherapy.

·        Writing the history of various sciences, taking very specific subjects – these projects can be done jointly with inputs from Sanskrit scholars who have scientific mindset. Dr. Bishnoi, Chairperson of Deptt of Religious Studies, has already been collecting such information and fully supports the idea.

·        Preparing comprehensive list of Sanskrit manuscripts (their number is in lacs), lying in foreign countries and getting the list of those which contain ancient knowledge of sciences made with a short description.

Deep interest was also shown by print and electronic media and I-SERVE team felt encouraged with the positive coverage from them as they generally endorsed the authenticity as well as the credibility of the theme of the exhibition and trustworthiness of the contents of its exhibits. Many newspapers / magazines covered the news of this unique exhibition. Some of the links are as under -

This Exhibition and this Seminar were based on research carried out by I-SERVE Delhi Chapter and its Director Smt Saroj Bala for more than 12 years on Determining Cultural Continuity since Vedic and Epic Eras: through Sequential Dating of Astronomical References and other Corroborating Scientific Evidences. First seminar, covering Rigvedic and Ramayan eras, with the title, "Scientific Dating of Ancient Events before 2000 BC:…" was organized in Delhi on 30-31 July, 2011. The inaugural address was delivered by late Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, who has been the source of inspiration behind this research.

Thereafter the book titled, “Historicity of Vedic and Ramayan Eras: Scientific Evidences from the Depths of Oceans to the Heights of Skies” was published, which was released in August, 2012. Positive reviews were published in several journals and newspapers. It was also covered and appreciated by ZEE news on 25-26 August, 2012 through comprehensive coverage during primetime. Hindi version was published with the title वैदिक युग एवं रामायण काल की ऐतिहासिकता" In January, 2013.

Second International Seminar with the theme, “Determining cultural continuity since Vedic and Epic Eras”, was held on 23 - 24 February, 2014 in Delhi, for which inaugural address was delivered by hon’ble Dr Karan Singh. The summary, along with some pictures, have been uploaded on http://sarojbala.blogspot.in/

After making many more intense efforts for dating of Mahabharat, an Exhibition titled ‘Cultural Continuity from Rigveda to Robotics’ was put up in lalit kala Akademi, New Delhi on 17-23 September, 2015, which was inaugurated by Dr Mahesh Sharma, Minister of Culture. It was widely appreciated and covered by print and electronic media. Many details and exhibits have been uploaded on http://sarojbala.blogspot.in/

We do believe that a worthwhile beginning of research on the lines, as desired by late Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, will be made in GJU. We are confident that as a result all Indians, irrespective of their caste and religion, will be able to enjoy shared pride in their rich cultural heritage, which has also come in the form of scientific knowledge! The most striking feature about the faculty, students and management of your University was their patriotic spirit and their keen desire to know about the antiquity and richness of our ancient scientific knowledge!

People all over the world, particularly in the Indian Subcontinent, remember, admire and worship Shri Ram. Most of the festivals in India revolve around the events related to the life of Shri Ram. MaryadaPurushottamRam remains unparalleled as an ideal son, an ideal brother, an ideal warrior, an ideal king and an ideal social reformer!

Shri Ram moved from place to place to spread the message of unity by showing very high level of respect for the people from backward tribes and those considered untouchable.      He was a nationalist par excellence who left his kingdom to protect the tribals, hermits and sages  living in the forests, from the atrocities of wicked Brahman King Ravana of Sri Lanka and his relatives like Khar and Dushan, who after having turned into Rakshasas, were committing barbarities  on innocent and noble people of India.

There is only one ‘Ramayan’, which was composed by Maharishi Valmiki Ji as a contemporary admirer of Shri Ram; admirers of great men get replaced with followers after a few hundred years. Then after a long long time, followers yield place to the devotees. This Paper is based on the story of the life of Shri Ram narrated by Valmiki Ji in ‘Ramayan’ along with the astronomical dates of important events determined on purely scientific basis, along with other scientific evidences supporting such date sequence.

Maharishi Valmiki was a great astronomer and he made sequential astronomical references on  important  dates  related to  the life of Shri  Ram indicating the location  of  planets vis-a-vis  zodiac  constellations and  the  other  visible stars (nakshatras).  Needless to add that similar position of planets and nakshatras,vis-a-vis zodiac constellations, is notrepeated in 25920 years. By  entering the precise details of the planetary configurations of the important events in the life of Shri  Ram,  as  given in  the Valmiki  Ramyan,  using  the  software  named ‘Planetarium Gold’ corresponding exact dates of these events according to English calendar could be  known. When converted in to Luni-solar calendar followed in ancient India; these perfectly match the sequential lunar dates given by Valmiki Ji. The paper presents some of these sky views, observed from the given locations.

These astronomical dates of planetary references in Ramayan, are corroborated byseveral scientific evidences; including those from archaeological, geological, oceanographic, geographic and genetic research reports. An attempt has been made to highlight such scientific evidences, which will persuade the viewer to believe that Ramayan was not a mythological story / fictional novel, but represents true ancient historical heritage of India.

The most distinguished scientist of 20th century, Dr. A P J Abdul Kalam, had said,“the important aspect about the Ramayana is that when Maharshi Valmiki wrote the epic, he made it with many proofs. He packed so much information about the various planetary positions of those days, the geography of the areas mentioned in the epic, the seasonal events, about the genealogy of various kings, that it is virtually a no-brainer to establish the dates on which those events occurred. Genealogical links and archaeological findings also provide clues to the dating of the Ramayana era………...” Through this paper an attempt has been made to explain the evidences which prove that these assertions made by this great son of India were all correct.

CITATION FOR CONFERRING
THE DEGREE OF DOCTOR OF SCIENCE
(HONORIS CAUSA)

ON

SMT. SAROJ BALA

ON THE OCCASION OF
FOURTH CONVOCATION

GURU JAMBHESHWAR UNIVERSITY OF SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY, HISAR
(SEPTEMBER 22, 2016)

Esteemed Mr. Chancellor
It is indeed a matter of great honour for the fraternity of Guru Jambheshwar University of Science & Technology, Hisar that a degree of Doctor of Science (D.Sc.) (Honoris Causa) is being conferred on Smt. Saroj Bala. She is presently working as the Director of the Institute of Scientific Research on Vedas (I-SERVE). For more than seven years, she has been working as the Chief Research Co-ordinator of the Research project titled ‘Determining Cultural Continuity from Rigveda to Robotics through sky simulations of astronomical references and supporting scientific evidences’. This involves extraction, translation and sequential dating of astronomical references in ancient Sanskrit literature, particularly in Rigveda, Valmiki Ramayan and Mahabharat, by making use of Planetarium software; establishing co-relation of such astronomical dates with ecological, archaeological, palaeobotanic, anthropological, oceanographic and remote sensing evidences for scientific reconstruction of the history of our ancient culture and civilization.
Smt. Saroj Bala has authored the books entitled:
1. Historicity of Vedic and Ramayan Eras: Scientific Evidences from the Depths of Oceans to the Heights of Skies”
2. वैदिक युग एवं रामायण काल की ऐतिहासिकता:समुद्र की गहराइयों सेआकाश की ऊँचाइयों तक के वैज्ञानिक प्रमाण”. Through these books, she has proved that sky views of planetary references in Valmiki Ramayan could be observed sequentially around 5100 BC and carbon dating of artefacts excavated from several sites also considers these more than 7000 years old. Books authored by her under the titles: ‘Ramayan Retold with scientific Evidences’ and ‘रामायण की कहानी - विज्ञान की जुबानीare already with the publisher.
Because of her sincerity, dedication and persistence, she finally succeeded in determining the true astronomical dates of Mahabharat references, which are likely to set at rest all controversies relating to dates of Mahabharat war. At present she is busy writing her next book, “Mahabharat Retold with Scientific Evidences” which will include eleven sequential sky views generated by using Planetarium software, covering a period of 52 years from 3153 BC to 3101 BC, which exactly match the descriptions in Mahabharat with the date of war falling in the year 3139 BC.
It may be highlighted here that Smt. Saroj Bala is neither an astrophysicist nor an archaeologist, neither an oceanographer nor a space scientist, neither a geologist nor a DNA scientist. In fact she is not from the science background; however for last more than twenty years, she has been studying and analysing original scientific research reports from all these disciplines. She is of the firm view that true and exact dates of events/references in Vedas and Epics can be determined by making use of the latest scientific tools and technologies. She also believes that solution to many of the problems, which India is facing today, lies in writing a pure scientific history, using pure scientific tools and correlating pure scientific research reports. Smt. Saroj Bala remains fully dedicated to this national cause and voluntarily renders services in co-ordinating this kind of multi-disciplinary scientific research activity, which will help carry forward the mission of scientifically determining the antiquity and continuity of our cultural heritage and of uniting different castes, communities and regions of India.
It is my profound privilege to mention that Smt. Saroj Bala has done M.A. in Political Science and holds a degree in LLB. She belongs to 1972 batch of Indian Revenue Service and was the First Lady Officer in the history of Income Indian Revenue Service to be adjudged as the ‘Best All Round Officer’ at National Academy of Direct Taxes. She worked as Joint Commissioner, Additional Commissioner, Commissioner and Chief Commissioner of Income Tax at various locations in India. She had retired as Member of Central Board of Direct Taxes in 2009.
For last seven years, she has dedicated herself with a missionary spirit to proving scientifically that Ramayan and Mahabharat are our true historical and cultural heritage, Dravidians and north Indians share their genetic profile and that Vedas contain some valuable knowledge of scientific discoveries and technologies. Therefore, in recognition of her contribution to the field of science and technology, research capabilities,  administrative accomplishments and above all for her service to the spirit of nationalism, Mr. Chancellor, Sir, I present to you Smt. Saroj Bala and request you to confer upon her the degree of D.Sc. (Honoris Causa) of Guru Jambheshwar University of Science and Technology, Hisar.

Seminar on 'Chronology of Indian Culture since the Beginning of Holocene through Scientific Evidences' - 16th July 2016

A one day international conference was organized by I-SERVE (Institute of Scientific Research on Vedas) on 16th July in Chanakyapuri, New Delhi on the subject “Chronology of Indian Culture since the Beginning of Holocene through Scientific Evidences”. More than 25 leading scientists from all over India participated in the conference and presented the latest research work being carried out by organizations like Archaeological Survey of India, ISRO, National Institute of Oceanography, Birbal Sahni Institute of Paleosciences, Anthropology Survey of India, Himalayan Institute of Glaciology, Deccan College, Hisar University and Kurukshetra University.

With the trashing of Aryan Invasion Theory as mythology based on linguistic guesswork, it has become an important challenge for academia to prepare an accurate chronology of the world’s oldest and biggest civilization that had flourished in the Indian sub-continent. With the advent of superior scientific tools and technologies for mapping, excavating and dating the early human settlements, there is a need to run a parallel and multi-disciplinary scientific platform for drawing conclusions about the Indus - Saraswati - Gangetic civilization. Institute of Scientific Research on Vedas has taken up this task of creating a platform for researchers from 10 different sciences to contribute inputs and then identify as well as correlate common and credible conclusions.

This work has led to some ground-breaking achievements, ranging from dating of Vedic hymns and references in Ramayan and Mahabharat to mapping of geographical features and human settlements since the beginnings of Holocene (10,000 BC to present). Mrs. SarojBala (Director, I-SERVE and a retired IRS officer) has proposed the writing of scientific history based on purely scientific evidences without any correlation with traditional history. According to her, latest mapping of Sarasvati River course, correlation of submerged and re-emerged settlements with sea level curve, excavations at Mehrgarh, Rakhigarhi and Lahuradeva and latest genetic studies of Indians populations, should all be correlated in the books reconstructing new scientific chronology of our cultural heritage, so that it does not get lost in endless controversies. In the words of Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, such scientific history would push back antiquity of Indian Culture by a few millennia (to 7000 BC), could help unite all Indians and generate shared pride in our rich ancient heritage!
