Short Profile of Saroj Bala
Smt. Saroj Bala had
distinguished herself as an IRS officer. After retiring as Member of CBDT(Central Board of Direct Taxes), she
plunged herself whole-heartedly into multi-disciplinary scientific research to
ascertain about the historicity and antiquity of Vedas and Epics. The research
was undertaken by her under the guidance of Dr. A P J Abdul Kalam. This
multi-disciplinary scientific research was carried out in close coordination
with distinguished scientists from archaeology and archaeobotany, geography and
geology, oceanography and hydrology, remote-sensing and genetic studies.
After carrying out intensive and extensive research for several years,
Smt. Saroj Bala wrote a book in association with Shri Kulbhushan Mishra, which
was published in 2012 under the title: "Historicity of Vedic and Ramayan
Eras: Scientific evidences from the depths of oceans to the heights of
skies." Guru Jambheshwar University of Science & Technology, Hisar conferred the degree of Doctor of
Science on her for this research.
Her next book ‘रामायण की कहानी, विज्ञान की जुबानी’ was released in October 2018. A year later a copy of the same was
presented by Honorable CM Yogi Ji to India’s most revered Prime Minister Shri Narender Modi Ji. The English version of this book titled ‘Ramayan Retold with Scientific Evidences’ was released on 5th February 2019. This was
discussed in opening session of Timeslitfest on 30th November 2019. Government of India
honored her with "Vivekanand Puraskar" in 2021 for writing these books.
The contents of these two
books reveal that the author had extracted astronomical references sequentially
from Valmiki Ramayan, and then generated the corresponding sky-views using
Planetarium and Stellarium softwares. These cannot be repeated in 25920 years.
At least eleven sequential skyviews have revealed that Events narrated in
Ramayan relate to the period around 5100 BCE, i.e. 7100 years back. The
evidence supporting this astronomical date sequence from archaeology and archaeobotany,
geography and geology, oceanography and hydrology, remote sensing and genetic
studies, has been woven exquisitely into the story narrated in Valmiki Ramayan.
Beautiful pictures of Ramsetu and many excavated samples and artifacts,
mentioned in Ramayan, have also been included in these books.
In March 2021, her book
‘Mahabharat Retold with Scientific Evidence’ was launched.This
book (and
its Hindi version titled "महाभारत की कहानी,
विज्ञान की जुबानी"launched on 12th November 2022 at J.N.U.) is a narration of important events relating to
Mahabharat war with exact dates. Sky simulations of sequential astronomical
references, spanning a period of 52 years, have proved that the war was fought
in the year 3139 BCE. Besides astronomy, the book puts forth evidence from
seven disciplines of science, which prove that the profound philosophy of "Bhagavad Gita" was actually passed on to the world on ShuklaEkadashi of Margashirsha Month
in 3139 BCE. Map having Geo co-ordinates of the kingdoms which fought during
the Mahabharat war, along with GPS
plotting of excavated Harappan sites located therein, would change the
perception about ancient India’s history. If Mahabharat war was fought in 3139
BCE, are we not supposed to conclude that the so-called Harappan excavated
sites actually represented the Vedic civilization of Mahabharat era, which has
been indigenously developing for last 9000 years?
In October 2021, her book ‘राम कथा सितारों से सुनिए’ was released. This is a shorter, simpler and cheaper version of ‘रामायण की कहानी, विज्ञान की जुबानी’. It was authored jointly with Shri D C Agarwal and
was published on public demand.
Mrs Saroj Bala’s mission and
vision in life have the objective of restoring shared pride in India’s glorious
past and ancient heritage and help make India a knowledge hub of the world
again. The contents of these books would surely raise the self-esteem of all
Indians. These books are capable of showcasing before the
world antiquity and richness of India’s cultural heritage coming down from Vedic
and Epic Era, which has been developing indigenously for 9000 years. These are
high quality library editions, which include more than a hundred pages printed
in color on high quality craft paper and deserve to be sent to most of the
universities of the world and to Libraries of Indian Embassies located all over
the world.

For sincere and in-depth scientific research on the project titled, “Cultural Continuity from Rigveda to Robotics through Sky simulations of Astronomical References and Supporting Scientific Evidences”, the Director of I-SERVE, Mrs. Saroj Bala was awarded the degree of Doctor of Science (Honoris Causa) by Guru Jambheshwar University of Science and Technology, Hisar. During the same Convocation, this degree was awarded to Shri Suresh P. Prabhu, Minister of Railways, Govt. of India. Some pictures are attached along with the Citation.

Esteemed Mr. Chancellor It is indeed a matter of great honor for the fraternity of Guru Jambheshwar University of Science & Technology, Hisar that a degree of Doctor of Science (D.Sc.) (Honoris Causa) is being conferred on Smt. Saroj Bala. She is presently working as the Director of the Institute of Scientific Research on Vedas (I-SERVE). For more than seven years, she has been working as the Chief Research Co-Ordinator of the Research project titled ‘Determining Cultural Continuity from Rigveda to Robotics through sky simulations of astronomical references and supporting scientific evidences’. This involves extraction, translation and sequential dating of astronomical references in ancient Sanskrit literature, particularly in Rigveda, Valmiki Ramayan and Mahabharat, by making use of Planetarium software; establishing co-relation of such astronomical dates with ecological, archaeological, palaeobotanic, anthropological, oceanographic and remote sensing evidences for scientific reconstruction of the history of our ancient culture and civilization.
Smt. Saroj Bala has authored the books entitled:
1. Historicity of Vedic and Ramayan Eras: Scientific Evidences from the Depths of Oceans to the Heights of Skies”
2. “वैदिक युग एवं रामायण काल की ऐतिहासिकता:समुद्र की गहराइयों सेआकाश की ऊँचाइयों तक के वैज्ञानिक प्रमाण”. Through these books, she has proved that sky views of planetary references in Valmiki Ramayan could be observed sequentially around 5100 BC and carbon dating of artifacts excavated from several sites also considers these more than 7000 years old. Books authored by her under the titles: ‘Ramayan Retold with scientific Evidences’ and ‘रामायण की कहानी - विज्ञान की जुबानी’ are already with the publisher.
Because of her sincerity, dedication and persistence, she finally succeeded in determining the true astronomical dates of Mahabharat references, which are likely to set at rest all controversies relating to dates of Mahabharat war. At present she is busy writing her next book, “Mahabharat Retold with Scientific Evidences” which will include eleven sequential sky views generated by using Planetarium software, covering a period of 52 years from 3153 BC to 3101 BC, which exactly match the descriptions in Mahabharat with the date of war falling in the year 3139 BC.
It may be highlighted here that Smt. Saroj Bala is neither an astrophysicist nor an archaeologist, neither an oceanographer nor a space scientist, neither a geologist nor a DNA scientist. In fact she is not from the science background; however for last more than twenty years, she has been studying and analyzing original scientific research reports from all these disciplines. She is of the firm view that true and exact dates of events/references in Vedas and Epics can be determined by making use of the latest scientific tools and technologies. She also believes that solution to many of the problems, which India is facing today, lies in writing a pure scientific history, using pure scientific tools and correlating pure scientific research reports. Smt. Saroj Bala remains fully dedicated to this national cause and voluntarily renders services in coordinating this kind of multi-disciplinary scientific research activity, which will help carry forward the mission of scientifically determining the antiquity and continuity of our cultural heritage and of uniting different castes, communities and regions of India.
It is my profound privilege to mention that Smt. Saroj Bala has done M.A. in Political Science and holds a degree in LLB. She belongs to 1972 batch of Indian Revenue Service and was the First Lady Officer in the history of Income Indian Revenue Service to be adjudged as the ‘Best All Round Officer’ at National Academy of Direct Taxes. She worked as Joint Commissioner, Additional Commissioner, Commissioner and Chief Commissioner of Income Tax at various locations in India. She had retired as Member of Central Board of Direct Taxes in 2009.
For last seven years, she has dedicated herself with a missionary spirit to proving scientifically that Ramayan and Mahabharat are our true historical and cultural heritage, Dravidians and north Indians share their genetic profile and that Vedas contain some valuable knowledge of scientific discoveries and technologies. Therefore, in recognition of her contribution to the field of science and technology, research capabilities, administrative accomplishments and above all for her service to the spirit of nationalism, Mr. Chancellor, Sir, I present to you Smt. Saroj Bala and request you to confer upon her the degree of D.Sc. (Honoris Causa) of Guru Jambheshwar University of Science and Technology, Hisar.
